    Medical Flight Operations at Monmouth

Monmouth Executive Airport is more than a hub for swanky private jets and single engine pistons — it’s a critical lifeline for air medical services. With its 7,345-foot runway, round-the-clock operations, and space for numerous helicopters around the field, the airport is well equipped to support operations that save lives across the region. From air ambulances rushing patients to hospitals to organ transport flights ensuring timely transplants, Monmouth Executive Airport plays a pretty substantial role in life-saving care in New Jersey.

Medical flight services like PennSTAR, operated by the University of Pennsylvania Health System, frequently utilize the airport for critical care missions. Ground support teams, including Paraflight EMS, ensure seamless coordination, with vehicles ready to assist upon arrival. In 2018, Aitheras Aviation Group partnered with Paraflight EMS to establish a fixed-wing air ambulance base at the airport, serving New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.

The airport’s strategic location, just minutes from Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, which boasts a rooftop helipad, enhances its importance. This proximity allows for rapid patient transfers to advanced trauma care, making every minute count in life-or-death situations. It seems that this convenience is taken advantage of the most by Hackensack Meridian Health, who has their own 2006 Eurocopter EC 135 P2+ (N732HM) operated by Air Methods that frequently utilizes the airport.

Building upon this, a recent stipulation of Monmouth County’s agreement to end their efforts to acquire the airport was that they begin supporting the county’s emergency medical service MEDSTAR program.

This recent agreement between Monmouth County and the airport, finalized in March 2025, reaffirms the airport’s commitment to public safety and health. This partnership not only ensures the continuation of vital medical flight services but also opens doors for future collaborations that could further enhance emergency response capabilities in the area. As Monmouth Executive Airport looks to the future, its commitment to supporting life-saving medical services remains steadfast, ensuring that it continues to be a vital asset to the community for years to come.
